when the Global South fascinates

Geopolitical competition has intensified in the transformation of the old world order. For example, Africa has become a geopolitical center where all the main actors in international politics compete with each other. We are talking about a geopolitical supply competition, who offers what and to whom. All countries want to network and build partnerships in a new way.

As the Global South demands more and more attention in this world in transition, the Nordic South Forum ry, founded in November 2023, focuses exclusively on geopolitical issues related to the Global South by organizing discussions, events and other activities.

The Global South does not have a precise definition, but it refers to regions and states in Latin America, Africa, the Persian Gulf region and South and Southeast Asia, which together have more than 100 independent states. It refers to postcolonial power structures, not to a geographical area or a unified power bloc.

In the future, Europe must be more prepared for global responsibility, presence and influence, as must Finland and the other Nordic countries. Our forum monitors and analyses the situation and also seeks to influence developments within its resources.

In a world marked by complex challenges, the Nordic South Forum brings together political, business, academic, civil society and other societal actors to discuss and analyse common issues between the Global South and the North. It is a non-profit, independent and impartial forum, not tied to any special interests.
